As many of you are aware, with the events of September 11, 2001, the reservoirs and adjacent lands had been closed to all access. However, the reservoirs and their lands are again open only to holders of new permits issued since Spring 2002. All permits issued prior to January 1, 2002 are no longer valid. Strongly suggested that you apply at your earliest convenience to avoid any delay. Permits take a few weeks to obtain and may only be applied for by mail to the office cited on the application at the above link of the NYC DEP.  It is no longer possible to apply at the local NYC DEP office. 

The application form (in PDF format) may be downloaded. If you do not have Adobe Reader there is a link there to download this application to view and print the application.  The application must be mailed to the address cited on the application for processing. Again, allow two to four weeks for processing.
